An original oil painting.
In this second work of the Ixion series, the myth recedes into the background and gives way to a more intimate focus: a couple, held together within a semi-abstract composition. The figures are partially absorbed by shifting planes and chromatic fragments, suggesting closeness while simultaneously introducing distance and ambiguity.
The painting was conceived as a technical and material experiment. Built through many thin layers of Mussini oil paint mixed with damar resin, the surface retains traces of earlier decisions. Colour is not merely descriptive but structural, shaping the emotional temperature of the encounter and allowing the image to emerge gradually from the accumulation of translucent veils.
Rather than narrating a specific moment, the work explores the tension between union and dissolution: how two figures can appear intertwined, yet never fully merge. The semi-abstract composition functions as a field in which intimacy is both affirmed and questioned.
